The National Golf Foundation just published the latest golf participation data in the US. These four key findings will warm our hearts:
1) YOUTH GOLF IS GROWING! The number of kids ages 6-17 who teed it up on a golf course in April, May and June is up up considerably and forecast estimate an increase of 20% (500,000 in absolute numbers) by the end of the year!
2) NUMBER OF GOLFER IS UP: The number of overall beginning and returning golfers is expected to be about 20% higher than in recent years.
3) ROUNDS of GOLF WAS UP IN JUNE EVERYWHERE: Rounds in June were up 14% over last year. Every single state in the continental U.S. saw an increase in play in June.
4) OPTIMISTIC END OF YEAR FORECAST: Despite of the huge "Loss" in April when most courses in the US were closed due to Covid19, an optimistic projection (based on the second half outperforming 2019 by 5%) forecasts a 2% increase in total number of rounds played.
